Across the world’s leading cultural capitals, art, design and music are increasingly merging into immersive, multi-sensory experiences – dissolving the boundaries between exhibition halls, concert venues, and social spaces. This spring, cultural-retail landmark K11 MUSEA taps into this global movement with MUSE STUDIO, an art, design and music campaign that reimagines how contemporary culture is experienced. From museum-grade exhibition to skyline music festival, sake and music pairing concert and jazz-infused cinema nights, to global debut of designer collaborations and exclusive F1 showcases, MUSE STUDIO transforms K11 MUSEA into a dynamic cultural playground.
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Encounter: Yukimasa Ida’s Explosive World of Contemporary Art
Kicking off MUSE STUDIO is the latest solo exhibition by Yukimasa Ida, one of the most celebrated artists in Japanese contemporary art, presented at Gold Ball, K11 MUSEA’s dedicated art space championing emerging artists and artistic innovation. The exhibition is curated with Villepin, the modern gallery known for advancing avant-garde global voices, reflecting a shared vision to present Ida’s dynamic practice to Hong Kong audiences.
Rooted in the Japanese philosophy of Ichigo Ichie (一期一會) — “a once-in-a-lifetime moment” – Ida’s work captures fleeting encounters, emotional intensity, and the impermanence of existence through explosive brushstrokes and layered abstraction. His paintings and sculptures transform transient moments into powerful visual narratives, bridging memory, perception, and time.
Ida’s works are highly sought after by global collectors and cultural icons, including Jay Chou, Leonardo DiCaprio, Yusaku Maezawa, and T.O.P. His international acclaim spans collaborations with Dior, major museum exhibitions such as Picasso Birthplace Museum, Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art, and Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, as well as features in Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30.
This exhibition marks Ida’s latest solo presentation in Hong Kong, featuring a selection of new works unveiled to the public at a unique location, offering audiences an intimate encounter with one of Asia’s most dynamic contemporary artists.
